Preview and Predictions for Bellator Dublin/Bellator 227: Henderson vs. Jury by Danny Rourke and Darell Garner

Bellator returns to the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland 🇮🇪 this Friday with a slew of fights as local Dubliner James Gallagher faces Roman Salazar in the Bellator Dublin headliner, and following, Myles “Fury” Jury makes his promotional debut against “Smooth” Benson Henderson in the Bellator 227 Main Event.  Bellator doesn’t often run these double feature events, but the    Dublin crowd will be treated to around 20 bouts Friday. It is a busy weekend in mixed martial arts, and  MMAPlugz has you covered with all of our Main Card Picks and Predictions. The  action from Dublin will stream LIVE on DAZN, beginning with the Prelims at 11:30AM/ET and the Main Card at 5:00PM/ET. The Bellator 227 Main Card will air othe Paramount Network and on DAZN Friday at 9PM/ET.
Bellator Dublin Main Card Predictions
Ryan Scope (-260) vs. Peter Queally (+200)
Ryan “Big Baby” Scope (10-2-0) faces “The Showstopper” Peter Queally (11-5-1) in a Lightweight bout to kickoff the Bellator Dublin Main Card.  Scope lost a narrow Split Decision at Bellator Newcastle in February in his last bout after sitting out all of 2018 with an injury. While Scope has lost two of his last three fights, Big Baby started out his pro career with a 9-0 record and a lot of clout after finishing eight of his first nine opponents. At Bellator 217 in February, Peter Queally dropped a Split Decision to Myles Price in Dublin. The SBG stablemate will be looking to make a better showing against Scope, and it will be interesting to see if Queally, who has never been finished can get the job done, or if Ryan Scope adds another scalp to his collection of finishes.
Danny’s Crystal Ball Prediction

🔮

: Scope via Second Round TKO
D’Bo’s Picks: Queally via Decision

Michael Page (-600) vs. Richard Kiely (+450)
In a Welterweight bout, MVP aka Michael “Venom” Page (14-1-0) will be looking to get back in the win column as he throws down with local Irishmen Peter Kiely (3-1-0). MVP is coming off the first loss of his professional career, losing via Second Round Knockout at Bellator 221 to Douglas Lima earlier this year in the Welterweight Grand Prix Semifinals. Page has shown leaks in his ground game in his last two fights, but is usually light years ahead of his opponent on the feet, which allows him to mask his shortcomings in grappling, wrestling, Jiu Jitsu. Richard Kiely hopes to set the arena on fire by putting on a performance similar to his promotional debut in February at Bellator 217 where he defeated Mickael Bucher via First Round TKO. Kiely has TKO finishes in all three of his professional wins, and would love to make it four against a big name like Michael “Venom” Page.

Danny’s Crystal Ball Prediction

🔮

: Kiely via First Round TKO
D’Bo’s Picks: MVP via First Round TKO

Bellator Dublin Main Event
James Gallagher (-515) vs. Roman Salazar (+375)
“The Strabanimal” James Gallagher (9-1-0) will be looking for more continued success fighting on home turf as he faces late   notice replacement  “El Gallito” Roman Salazar (13-9-0,1NC) in a 140-pound contract bout. Despite coming up short in three of his last four bouts with LFA, former UFC talent and veteran Roman Salazar  has the opportunity to make his promotional debut against the Strabanimal, replacing Callum Ellenor on short notice I n the Bellator Dublin Main Event. El Gallito is a balanced fighter, but is not really impressive or dominant anywhere in particular but if it turns into a slugfest, Salazar can certainly pull the upset. With consecutive wins over Jeremiah Labiano and Steven Graham, Team SBG standout James Gallagher has rebounded nicely from his loss to Ricky Bandejas last summer and should have no problem improving to 3-0 in 2019 with a early stoppage win over Salazar.
Danny’s Crystal Ball Prediction

🔮

: Gallagher via Second Round Submission
D’Bo’s Picks: Gallagher via First Round Submission

Bellator 227 Main Card Predictions
Norbert Novenyi Jr. vs. Will Fleury
Norbert Novenyi Jr. (4-0-0) hopes to remain perfect and undefeated inside the Bellator cage as he takes on Ireland’s Will Fleury (6-1-0) in a Middleweight matchup. Novenyi Jr. has started off his Bellator campaign strong with back to back Submission wins over Will Lavine and Mehmet Yeuksel and Norbert will look to the train rolling against Fleury. Fleury is put together consecutive wins against Antonio Jones and Shaun Taylor after losing in his promotional debut to Alen Amedovski at Bellator 203 last year. Fleury, a member of Team SBG is certainly capable of giving Novenyi Jr. his first professional loss, the Irishman just better avoid allowing Novenyi Jr. to grab a hold of his neck as the Hungarian has one nasty squeeze.

Danny’s Crystal Ball Prediction

🔮

: Novenyi Jr. via Second Round Submission
D’Bo’s Picks: Novenyi Jr. via Decision

Franz Mlambo vs. Dominique Wooding
“The Black Mamba” Franz Mlambo (7-4-0) takes on “The Black Panther” Dominique Wooding (6-2-0) in a bout of majestic animals at Bantamweight.  Wooding has finished all six of his professional wins by knockout and is coming off of a First Round KO of David Khalsa in his promotional debut at Bellator Birmingham in May. Mlambo is coming off of a Second around Submission win over Nathan Greyson his debut at Bellator 223, and the SBG product will be looking for his third straight victory against Wooding. This should be a good scrap but I’m leaning towards on Dominique Wooding getting the best of  stand up and laying his hands on Franz early.
Danny’s Crystal Ball Prediction

🔮

: Wooding via First Round KO
D’Bo’s Picks: Wooding via First Round TKO

Leah McCourt vs. Kerry Hughes
Leah McCourt (2-1-0) will have the support of the Irish crowd as she takes on England’s Kerry “Rocksteady” Hughes (3-4-0) in a Featherweight contest. Hughes enters her promotional debut on a three fight losing streak but having gained experience fighting veterans of the UFC  in Cindy Dandois and Pannie Kianzad. After losing in her professional debut to Rizlen Zouak, McCourt has responded with back to back wins  over Manon Fiorot and against Hatice Ozyurt in her Bellator debut in February. McCourt should have the upper hand in this matchup.

Danny’s Crystal Ball Prediction

🔮

: McCourt via Decision
D’Bo’s Picks: Hughes via Decision
Kiefer Crosbie vs. Hugo Pereira
Protege of Conor McGregor and a product of Team SBG Kiefer “Big Daddy” Crosbie (6-1-0) gets the opportunity to shine as he faces Hugo Pereira (4-2-0) in the Bellator Dublin Co-Main event. Crosbie suffered the first blemish on his professional record as he was disqualified in July for landing an illegal knee against Mike Jackson in their bout at Bellator 224. The mistake was Crosbie first hiccup to what has been a promising start with six consecutive stoppage victories. Fighting out of Portugal, Hugo Pereira makes his Bellator debut with TKO  finishes in all three of his professional wins including a First Round KO finish of Adrian Borrell in his last bout, which took place in 2017. I expect Pereira to have some rust in his first appearance back against an explosive starter in Crosbie.
Danny’s Crystal Ball Prediction

🔮

: Crosbie via Second Round TKO
D’Bo’s Picks: Hugo via First Round TKO

BELLATOR 227 MAIN EVENT
Benson Henderson (-260) vs. Myles Jury (+220)
“Smooth” Benson Henderson (27-8-0) will be looking to spoil the promotional debut of Myles “Fury”Jury (17-4-0) as they collide in the Bellator 227 Main Event.  Myles Jury certainly wasn’t handed a cupcake opponent in his first Bellator cage appearance and will have his meddle and resolve tested immediately. Jury had a disappointing finish to his UFC career losing four of his last six fights including his last two appearances against Alpha Male teammates Chad Mendes and Andre Fili. After losing three out of his first four bouts with the promotion, many were questioning how much gas Benson Henderson had left in the tank. Smooth has responded emphatically with three wins in a row against Roger Huerta, Saad Awad, and Adam Piccolotti. With another victory over Jury, Henderson could find himself right there in contention for a Lightweight title shot.
Danny’s Crystal Ball Prediction

🔮

: Henderson via Second Round Submission.
D’Bo’s Picks: Jury via Decision

Bellator 228: Pitbull vs. Archuleta takes place Tomorrow night LIVE from the Forum in Inglewood, California and will feature a handful of great Featherweight Grand Prix matchups on the Main Card. Share your thoughts and picks with us in the Comments section below and enjoy the fights!
