Bellator 232: MacDonald vs. Lima 2

Preview and Predictions for Bellator 232: MacDonald vs. Lima 2 by Danny Rourke and Darell Garner

On Saturday the Mohegan Sun Arena will host the $1 million dollar Welterweight Grand Prix Final with Bellator 232: MacDonald vs. Lima 2. The event will stream in its entirety on DAZN with the Prelims kicking off at 6:45PM/ET and the Main Card getting started at 10:00PM/ET.
Bellator 232 Main Card Predictions
Baby Slice vs. Craig Campbell
Moved up to kickoff the Main Card, the son of backyard brawling legend Kimbo Slice, Kevin Ferguson Jr. aka Baby Slice (3-2-0) will try to get back into the win column as he meets newcomer Craig Campbell (3-3-0) in a 160-pound Catchweight bout. Craig Campbell returns to MMA and makes his Bellator debut against Baby Slice following  a two year layoff from the sport. Fighting out of Texas, Campbell lost a Majority Decision to Chris Mullins at LFA 27 in November 2017. Campbell has won all three of his professional wins by rear-naked choke and that could make this fight interesting as Baby Slice was submitted in his MMA debut. Baby Slice saw a three fight win streak come to an end in his last appearance, losing to Corey Browning via First Round TKO at Bellator 207 last October. Will we see and new and improved Baby Slice against Campbell? I think so.
Danny’s Crystal Ball Prediction

: Slice via First Round TKO
D’Bo’s Pick: Slice via First Round TKO
Nick Newell (-750) vs. Manny Muro (+450)
In a Catchweight bout, the  “Notorious” Nick Newell (16-2-0) returns to battle Manny”The Dragon”  Muro (10-6-0) in another bout taking place in his home state. Nick Newell is riding high with confidence following his impressive  promotional debut in Bridgeport, Connecticut at Bellator  225 in August where Newell defeated Corey Browning by First Round Submission. It is amazing that Newell, with his win over Browning, improved to 16-2 and now has eleven pro wins by Submission. Manny Muro was able to end a three fight skid, in which he was finished in all three fights, by defeating Ken Coulter via Second Round Submission at Rage in the Cage 66 in June. Despite Muro’s recent win, I expect Nick Newell to roll with another resume stacking victory.
Danny’s Crystal Ball Prediction

: Newell via First Round Submission
D’Bo’s Pick: Newell via Second Round Submission
Patrick Mix(-1000) vs. Isiah Chapman (+650)
Undefeated prospect Patrick “Patchy”  Mix (11-0-0) takes on promotional newcomer Isaiah “The Beast”Chapman (9-3-0), who moves up to Bantamweight. Isiah Chapman prepares for his debut against Patrick Mix having won his last three fights, with two coming by way of Submission. Fighting out of New York, Patrick Mix hopes to continue with the same energy he carried into his debut in Madison Square Garden at Bellator 222, where he submitted Ricky Bandejas in a little over a minute into the First Round. I expect Mix to overwhelm Chapman and to stay undefeated with another Submission win.
Danny’s Crystal Ball Prediction

: Mix via First Round Submission
D’Bo’s Pick: Chapman via Decision

Paul Daley (-400) vs. Saad Awad (+300)
In the Co-Main event, Paul “Semtex” Daley (41-17-2) and Saad “The Assasin” Awad (23-12-0) will battle in a contracted bout at 175 pounds. MMA Legend Paul Daley was able to shake off back to back losses to Jon Fitch and Michael “Venom” Page by defeating Erick Silva in June at Bellator 233 by Unanimous Decision in what was his sixtieth pro bout. Daley now sets his sights on Saad Awad, who has now lost three straight after losing just three weeks ago to Goiti Yamauchi at Bellator 229 via First Round Submission.  I think Daley is just the better fighter here, and should have no problem putting Awad away.

Danny’s Crystal Ball Prediction

: Daley via First Round TKO
D’Bo’s PicK: Daley via Second Round TKO
MAIN EVENT— Welterweight Grand Prix $1 Million Final
{C} Rory MacDonald (+140) vs. Douglas Lima (-160)
Rory “The Red King” MacDonald (21-5-1) looks to defend his title as he meets Douglas “The Phenom”Lima (31-7-0) in a highly anticipated rematch, with $1 million on the line in the Welterweight Grand Prix Final. Since their first meeting, Rory MacDonald successfully defended his title against Jon Fitch (Draw) and Neiman Gracie to advance to the Grand Prix Final and fight for $1 Million dollars. Douglas Lima has looked like he is on a mission with back to back stoppage wins against Andrey Koreshkov and Michael “Venom” Page. The first meeting between these two at Bellator 192 in January 2018 was an absolute war and an instant classic between two of the best Welterweights in the world. I think MacDonald will retire after this fight, win or lose. But I believe that Douglas Lima will get his hand raised in what should be another  another memorable clash.

Danny’s Crystal Ball Prediction: Lima via Second Round TKO

D’Bo’s Pick: Lima via Fourth Round TKO

In two weeks Bellator returns to Thackerville, Oklahoma for Bellator 233: Salter vs. Van Steenis. Share your thoughts and picks with us in the Comments section below and enjoy the fights!!
