Bellator 230: Carvalho vs. Nemkov

Preview and Predictions for Bellator 230: Carvalho vs. Nemkov by Danny Rourke and Darell Garner

The encore to Milan, Italy’s combat sports triple header at the Ex Palilido is Bellator 230: Carvalho vs. Nemkov. The Main Card will air Saturday at 9:00PM/ET on the Paramount Network and DAZN via tape delay.
Bellator 230 Main Card Predictions
Andrea Fusi  vs. Walter Pugliesi
Andrea “Il Barbaro”  Fusi (8-4-0) will be looking for a another positive result as he runs it back with Walter Pugliesi (4-2-0) in an all Italian Welterweight rematch. The pair first met at Bellator 211 last December, with Andrea Fusi walking away with the Split Decision win. Since his loss to Fusi, Walter Pugliesi fought once for Nova FC in Germany, losing to Jan Zander this time via First Round TKO. Fusi competed NDC 17 in May, picking up his third consecutive win by defeating Ayoub Ghraidia via First Round Submission. I think Fusi’s winning ways will carryover into the rematch with Pugliesi.
Danny’s Crystal Ball Prediction

: Fusi via Decision
D’Bo’s Pick: Fusi via Third Round Submission
Dragos Zubco vs.  Hesdy Gerges
Promotional newcomer Dragos Zubco (2-1-0) meets Hesdy Gerges (0-1-0) in a 243 Catchweight bout. Zubco, who traditionally has fought at Light Heavyweight moves up in weight to take on Hesdy Gerges, who previously weighed in at the Heavyweight limit in his professional MMA debut, a First Round TKO loss to Domingo Barros at Bellator 209 last year. I expect Zubco and Gerges to throw caution to the wind with the hopes that a strong showing may lead to a contract extension offers. I think Dragos Zubco, who is will be competing in his first fight since 2015 should be able to shake off the rust and pickup his second consecutive victory against Gerges.
Danny’s Crystal Ball Prediction

: Zubco via First Round TKO
D’Bo’s Pick: Zubco via First Round TKO
Domingos Barros vs. Kirill Sidelnikov
Undefeated Domingos Barros (6-0-0) will square off with Kirill Sidelnikov (11-6-0) in a Heavyweight showdown.  Coming off of back to back knockout losses to Sergei Pavlovich and Adam Keresh in his promotion debut at Bellator 209 last November, Russia’s Kirill Sidelnikov will hungry to get a victory and back on the winning track. Sidelnikov had won his previous five fights prior to his current two fight skid.  Fighting out of Cape Verde, Domingo Barros made a strong first impression last December at Bellator 211 with his First Round TKO of Hesdy Gerges, and will be looking to add another scalp to his clean record in Sidelnikov. I expect Barros to roll with a quick stoppage win.

Danny’s Crystal Ball Prediction

: Barros via First Round TKO
D’Bo’s Pick: Barros via First Round TKO
Rafael Carvalho vs. Vadim Nemkov
Former Middleweight Champion Rafael Carvalho (16-3-0) moves up to Light Heavyweight is to challenge a surging Vadim Nemkov (10-2-0) in the Bellator 230 Main Event. Following back to back losses to veteran talents Gegard Mousasi and Lyoto Machida, Rafael Carvalho struggled to make weight for a 191 pound Catchweight bout with Chidi Njokuani at Bellator 224 in July. Carvalho was able to get back to his winning ways, defeating Njokuani via Unanimous Decision, improving his record inside the Bellator cage to 7-2. Vadim Nemkov has hit the ground running in his Bellator campaign at Light Heavyweight with consecutive wins over former Champions Phillipe Lins, Liam McGeary(TKO),  and most recently at Bellator 209 against Phil Davis by Split Decision— strongly positioning himself for consideration to challenge Double Champ Ryan Bader next for the Light Heavyweight title. With another victory over Carvalho, no one can deny that Vadim Nemkov should be number one contender in 205 pound division.
Danny’s Crystal Ball Prediction

: Nemkov via First Round TKO
D’Bo’s Pick: Carvalho via Decision
